Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enrol for a class?

To enrol in any SHARE class you need to complete an enrolment form and send it, with your payment, to the SHARE office. Simply follow the steps on our How to enrol page.

How can I pay for my class

You can pay for your class by:

  • Credit Card – VISA or Mastercard (American Express not accepted)
  • Money Order
  • Cheque

You can also come into the SHARE office and pay in person using your bank card, credit card, or cash.

Can I do more than one class per week?

Yes, you can participate in as many classes as you like. You just need to adjust your term payment to reflect the number of classes you wish to enroll in.

How do I know I am booked in?

Once you have sent your enrollment form into SHARE, your receipt will be distributed by post or email after your enrollment has been processed. Please allow adequate time before inquiring.

Do I need to have the PAQ form signed by a Health Professional?

If you answer YES to any questions in Section A on the form you will need to have your pre-activity form signed by a health professional. This form is to be returned to the SHARE office before you can participate in the class.

How much do the classes cost?

The cost of classes varies, depending on the type of class you are booking in for and the number of weeks in the term. You can refer to our current timetable to check the cost of a SHARE class.

When can I apply for the 2-class discount?

The 2-class (10% off) discount applies only if you are paying for two or more full priced SHARE classes, and are not claiming any other discounts such as a holiday deduction or a subsidised class.
NOTE: credits do not count as “other discounts”.

Can I pay as I go?

Due to the popularity of SHARE classes, participants are required to pay for the full term in advance before attending any classes to secure their place.

Can I claim SHARE classes on my health fund?

You will need to check with your health fund to find out whether you are able to claim your SHARE classes or not.

Can I take holidays?

Yes, you can take up to two weeks holidays during a term. You need to deduct your holidays when you enroll and pay for your class before the term begins. Once you have paid for your class, you may only receive a credit or for an absence due to medical reasons.

What happens if I can’t go to my classes?

If you have a medical reason for not attending a class and can provide a medical certificate, you are able to apply for a credit. Unfortunately SHARE cannot offer a credit if you miss a class due to non-medical reasons, such as a change in personal circumstances.

How do I apply for credit?

To apply for a credit you need to complete an application form, which can be obtained from the SHARE office. Send it along with a medical certificate to the SHARE office and you will be notified of the outcome.

What if I don’t know which class I want to do?

SHARE offers one FREE trial class to new participants who are unsure about the suitability of the exercise class. This allows you to attend one predetermined class before booking in for the whole term. Before attending your trial class, you need to advise the SHARE office and fill in a “trial class” form to hand to the instructor on the day of the class.

If you have not organised your trial class with the office before attending the class, you will not be able to participate in the class. If you enjoy the trial class, you are welcome to book in and pay for the term (including the trial class).

Where are the classes held?

SHARE offers classes at a number of different venues. Please refer to our current timetable for information on classes and venues.

Who runs the classes?

All SHARE classes are run by qualified fitness leaders who have extensive experience working with older adults and seniors.Y

What should I wear to my class?

If you are attending a Gentle Aqua Fitness class, we advise that you wear your swimming costume under your clothes, and non-slip, flat soled shoes (ie: aqua shoes, available form Target/Kmart/BigW).

If you are attending Fitter & Stronger, Strength, Stretch and Relax, or Tai Chi classes, we recommend that you wear loose, comfortable clothing and flat soled/supportive joggers (not sandals). If you wish, you can bring an exercise mat or towel for floor exercises. Alternatively, you are welcome to stretch in a seated position on the chairs provided.
