4 ways to support better mental wellbeing and stay connected during COVID-19
As well as maintaining good physical hygiene, it is just as important to look after your mental health.
1. If you find yourself feeling anxious from hearing or reading stories about COVID-19, give yourself some time away from news and social media. Take your information from reliable sources such as NSW Health and limit the time you spend looking at news updates where possible.
2. Keep reaching out to friends and family over the phone or by video calling. It is important to talk about how you are feeling, and find time to smile, laugh and connect with those who care for you.
3. Follow a sleep routine and prioritise a good night’s sleep. Not only does quality sleep help with your general physical wellbeing, but it also helps you to deal with and process stressful thoughts and maintain a better and more stable mood.
4. Move your body a little bit each day, even 10 minutes makes a big difference to your wellbeing. Rug up and go for a walk around the backyard or porch with some gentle stretches, do some gardening, or pop on some music!
