Dear All
In 2020, the world is facing one of the biggest challenges in modern medical history, the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. Like so many organisations, SHARE (Building Healthier Communities – Learn for Life) is working through the implications.
As a precautionary measure based on the available advice we write to you about our ongoing programs. In the interest of keeping our participants, Instructors and staff safe and well, and to minimise the potential for transmission of COVID 19 (Corona Virus), it is with regret we advise that all our classes have been suspended for the remainder of Term 1, 2020. The cancellation of Term 1 classes and events will take effect as of tomorrow Wednesday 18th March 2020 including holidays.
The decision was not taken lightly and the steps taken is to mitigate risk and follows the World Health Organisation (WHO) declaring COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) a global pandemic. We appreciate the value of these classes to our participants and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. However, it was deemed necessary to suspend the classes given the potential risk of COVID 19 specifically to older residents and the evolving situation.
We are also mindful, particularly, of the current advice to protect against infection and prevent the virus spreading, through social distancing. Our top priority is to ensure the health and safety of our Instructors, Participants, Partners and our staff.
As the situation is constantly evolving, we expect these measures will continue beyond this Term’s program. We will continue to be guided by the Department of Health and will update through our website, email and social media channels in relation to Term 2 classes and events. All remaining fees will be credited toward Term 2. Those participants want refund, please contact SHARE office to discuss the correct procedure for refund Policy and Procedure. Thank you for your ongoing support of SHARE during this challenging time.
Naturally, this is an unsettling time for many, who are unsure how the Coronavirus situation will develop over the coming weeks. Make sure you stay informed with the latest information on COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) visit NSW Health’s website
In these unprecedented times, I wanted to also reach out to let you know what SHARE is doing what it can to support our team, our customers, and our community to get through the uncertainties we all face.
We understand that now, more than ever, as the community transitions to increased work from home arrangements, as events and travel are curtailed, and as social distancing is needed, everyone is counting on their ability to access the world through their home and mobile connectivity.
We at SHARE are determined to do whatever it takes to continue to provide you with exceptional connectivity so you can concentrate on your family’s wellbeing, and know that we can help in other ways so that you will not feel isolated. We will help as we can with your programs as the closure of classes will impact your wellbeing, routine and meeting friends. Safety and peace of mind of our people are important and this includes keeping everyone connected.
A range of supports are offered by the NSW Government and we are also looking into exercise programs from home. Number one thing you must do is “self-care”. Get support early. Everything can be worked out. Please ask questions and for help without fear of judgement. It’s a highly respected step – to seek help.
